It's been two weeks since I posted last. That's because the laptop we had been using to replace our computer that got struck by lightening had a hard drive failure. So....we are sans computer at the moment.
Well, that's not entirely true. We have one that no longer remembers it's IP address so we can't connect to the Internet with it. When our lives settle down a bit (yeah right!!) I'll see if a NIC card will fix it. If not, then we have to pray God supplies money for a new one.
In the meantime, let me throw out a challenge to you. I've been studying the term "mercy seat" since I attended the Beth Moore simulcast. Travis sang a song where the mercy seat was referenced. I've been enthralled ever since. So...your challenge...tell me if you know what the mercy seat is :)

The mercy seat was a place where a subject could come to beg mercy to the king.
I never did post from the last challenge. Ack! Sorry, girl. God has spoken alot over my life lately... especially about my heart. What I've allowed to take root and essentially because of that, how I've let it crowd God out. He is weeding though, and planting new seed, that I know, if I give it a chance, will bud flowers only the Creator could design.
As for the Mercy Seat... I picture My Daddy, that would be God, sitting upon His Seat, Christ at His side, both their eyes so full of love and compassion and forgiveness... and I get to run up to them, throw my arms around Dad and crawl up in His lap.
Mercy is described as: Mercy is a word used to describe compassion shown by one person to another, or a request from one person to another to be shown such leniency or unwarranted compassion for a crime or wrongdoing.
If Christ wanted to, He could stay me. He could put out His hand, shake His head and not grant me permission to come before the Mercy Seat. But instead, with His nail scarred hands, He beckons me because He has already showed leniency for my crimes. He's already paid for my wrongdoing.
Oooh, just thinking about it gets me excited. Thanks for bring this up, Mari. I want to go and meditate on it some more!
Hadn't really thought about this before, but I sure like Danielle's description! I think in the Old Testament the mercy seat was on top of the Ark of the Covenant. The mercy we have received through Jesus great love and sacrifice is incredible!
